Would Ecotourism Succour the Revival of Travel & Tourism Industry hit by COVID-19

The COVID-19 mayhem is observed since December 2019 and still painfully embraced by each one of us. Business and society at a large are shut and eager to operate as earlier before the lockdown. But when this normalcy would be back???

There is an influx of webinars, online discussions on when and how we would be back to normalcy................Thus, thought of penning down my thoughts.....

The first industry hit by any form of crises i.e. pandemic, economic, natural disasters, etc. is Travel & Tourism and is usually the last in economic cycle to bounce back. But, can we trigger a safe local travel?  Yes, I say we can.....wondering how? The solution to current scenario is, responsibly kicking off short haul (road) travel to nearby natural places. Natural attractions are open scenic spots which are considered to be pure and less contaminated.

Echoing "Responsible Travel to Natural Places" which is "Ecotourism", kindly refer to my first blog to get an insight of the concept of 'Ecotourism'.

Views & Tips:

  • Road trips of a small groups of family/ friends to nearby natural attractions (check out the containment zones), are the best mode to have a safe travel and quick stress buster.
  • Gather all travel information of the destination.
  • Strictly follow the health safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
  • Carry home food, packed food or look for food outlets that are following all health safety norms.
  • Do contribute to the livelihood of local people at the natural places, purchase some local goods following all sanitisation practices.
  • If planning to stay, look for home stays or eco-accommodations.
  • Do not litter the place.
  • Be responsible and follow all eco-practices
Ecotourism is a good option to travel and enjoy the natural beauty to heal yourselves psychologically. Surely, it could contribute to the revival of travel and tourism business.
